Context
This file talks about the opening of what's now the A47 bridge over the Nene between Wisbech and Peterborough. Although originally proposed in 1904, it took forever to get off the ground with enquiries going back and forth (for a while, the MOT weren't even convinced the bridge was needed), together escalating costs, until construction finally started in 1923, and finishing in 1927.
Contents of note
There's a close up map showing the site of the bridge in relation to the Peterborough and March roads (that's the A47 and A141 to you and me).
People with camera copies
Ritchie has some of the correspondence and the map.
