Context
This file is mostly concerned with the siting of emergency telephone boxes along motorways in Lancashire. This isn't a very contentious issue, so there was relatively little discussion about it. The biggest furore seems to be over the phones at Worsley Braided Interchange, now the junction between M61, M60, A580 and A666. Standard spacing was too wide for this complex, so they were installed every quarter of a mile, but the Police requested extra phones near 'danger spots' as well. There are several large-scale plans showing these extra locations.
The biggest surprise is that the file contains (as a result of the above) several large maps and plans showing the M61's intended route, with other planned motorways in the area, all of which are colour-coded. It makes clear that the M61 designation runs down to the A580 and never meets the M60.
Contents of note
- Maps and plans showing detail of M61's routing, proposed junction layouts for M58 interchange and Chequerbent, etc.
