Context
Internal machinations within the Treasury concerning the Ringway plans, which makes for utterly fascinating reading. As well as several nuggets of information that are not found elsewhere, it has the full set of correspondence between the GLC and Treasury surrounding the government's disapproval.
Contents of note
- Correspondence between Mr Downey (GLC) and DEJ Dowler (Treasury), asking what scope there is for "killing the whole project", in 1969.
- GLC standard A1-size map of the Motorway Box, with colour-coded lines for sunken, elevated and ground-level motorways, as planned in 1967.
People with camera copies
None known. Chris Marshall has a high-resolution scan of the map, which he has had printed and framed and hung above his desk, and it looks super, thank you.
