How to use it
Worcestershire Archives moved in 2012 to purpose built facilities called The Hive which also houses the city's main library. The archives operates via the CARN ticket system and you need to sign in before being allowed in the archive area. Finding records is made via paper catalogues and entering the relevant information onto document request slips. There are no facilities to find records using a PC within the archive area. Documents are produced on demand and arrive fairly quickly if staff aren't too busy. Staff are picky about copyright and will often refuse to let you take photographs if they aren't 100% sure of the copyright status. A letter from the copyright holder allowing you to take copies will make things easier.
Some less requested documents are stored off-site by Gloucestershire County Council, and at least two weeks notice is needed to request these items.
