Wade through them and the results are not particularly rewarding.<br /> <br /> The bottom line is that the London County Council, and then the Greater London Council, wanted to improve the A2 and proposed to do that by providing a bypass that went alongside the railway through Eltham. These three files contain literally every piffling bit of correspondence that was ever entered into on that matter.<br /> <br /> Here we learn:<br /> * The &quot;Eltham A.2 Residents&#039; Protection Association&quot; didn&#039;t like the line of the bypass and proposed their own, which blasted a random line through suburbia north of Eltham.
