We learn a few scraps of worthwhile information here, such as:<br /> <br /> * A toll of 2s. was considered and rejected, on the grounds that it would cause a large proportion of traffic to divert to the nearby, badly congested Blackwall Tunnels.<br /> * The method of construction was to be sunken pre-cast concrete sections.<br /> * One early plan was for three bores, in the configuration 3+2+3 lanes, but in the end four two-lane bores were chosen.<br /> * The motorway would have been dual four-lane throughout, with hard shoulders on both sides of both carriageways.
