==Context==
Like most of London's local authorities, the London Borough of Hackney was an objector in the GLDP Inquiry and this file contains some of its evidence against the GLC's road proposals.

Having examined the various new roads that were to be built through the borough (most notably the M11, North Cross Route and possibly Eastern Avenue Extension), its engineers had done some of their own calculations and arrived at different traffic flow predictions to those provided by the GLC.

This file shows LB Hackney's sums, and a short summary of what they mean. The general conclusion seems to be that Hackney's street network would be worse off if the Ringways ''were'' built, aligning them with the views expressed in Thomson's ''Motorways in London'' report. More specifically it rails against the phased construction of the North Cross Route, which would have seen it built in stages westward from Hackney Wick. The initial stage would have finished at a temporary terminus at Dalston, and LB Hackney's figures show that this would have been nothing short of disastrous for Dalston's street network.
