He suggested building a junction with four flyovers to optimise a roundabout, braiding each entry point across the subsequent exit and providing left-turns bypassing the junction. The Ministry replied that in order to make the gradients to and from the flyovers acceptable, the central roundabout would have to be about the size of Derbyshire, and as a result it wasn't really a feasible design.
