==Context==
In the early 1960s, various new ideas for improving traffic flows were being trialled in West London, and one new concept was for a tidal flow scheme. The site chosen for this was Albert Bridge, and the adjoining section of Albert Bridge Road, on the basis that river bridges carried mainly northbound traffic in the morning peak and southbound traffic in the evenings.

This file is mostly about the publicity surrounding the launch of what (I think) was the UK's first tidal flow road, with lots of detail on the planning of the opening ceremony and the leaflets that were published to explain it.

There are some details here about the operation of the scheme and how it would have looked, especially if you read between the lines of the press release and opening ceremony schedule.
