Context

As with other files in this series, this is the product of the GLC department responsible for landscaping and beautifying whatever the GLC built, and here it turns its attention to Ringway 2 between Thamesmead and Falconwood. There's not much of anything specific in here, and a lot of it is to do with the impact of the new road on its surroundings rather than any efforts to landscape it. It includes a lot of information on the Norbury-Mottingham section too.

There are meeting minutes discussing various lines for the motorway around Plumstead, including the eventual decision to go through Rockcliffe Gardens rather than Woolwich Cemetery.

A lot of information concerns ILEA playing fields and other open spaces, accompanying which are A4-size photocopies of huge engineering plan sheets - sadly not a full collection, just some isolated snatches of the route. It is further proof, though, that Ringway 2's southern section was planned in detail and drawings did once exist, even if none seem to exist any longer. These include one showing a short section of cut and cover tunnel at Beckenham Hill to save some school playing fields, at the western end of which the motorway begins to widen for the tapers of sliproads at Worsley Bridge Road just as it vanishes off the edge of the sheet. The junction itself is not shown.
