Contents of note

The A470 between Cardiff and Merthyr is an impressive piece of engineering, where a fully grade separated dual carriageway is slotted in around urban and industrial development all the way up the Taff Valley. As you might imagine, plans for the road had been kicking around for some time, and this file contains the original 1949 proposals.

It includes numerous close up maps of GSJs, a complete map of the scheme from south of Tongwynlais (roughly where M4 J32 is today) to just north of Abercynon, where the new road ended (the extension to north of Merthyr is a much later scheme).

There's also a map containing traffic censuses for all of Wales, with particular attention to Glamorganshire and the Cardiff / Rhondda / Merthyr corridor, and an interesting set of photos containing a few properties scheduled to be demolished, including the Queen's Arms, Pontypridd. Bang goes having an awayday in that one, then...
