This book, by William B Ball, is most unusual in being a history of a modern road scheme written not long after the scheme was finished and being documented and published commercially without, seemingly, any involvement from the government or contractors. Instead, it's a labour of love from someone who was clearly fascinated by the changes that were happening through the centre of Stockport and who set about taking photographs and making notes to chart the progress of this one-of-a-kind road scheme. | |||
