Context
The 1950s and 60s seem to have been the key period in developing roundabouts from a very crude type of traffic management into a very sophisticated and versatile one. This file seems to be one of many very general "roundabouts" files that cover this period, and it contains a varied selection of correspondence on the subject.
There is little or no information relating to the development of roundabouts here, except for one quite singular exchange of letters between the Ministry of Transport and someone who can only be described as a roundabout enthusiast.
