This is proof that you should ''never'' judge what's in a National Archive file by it's title. Half-inch road map? 1923? Sounds a bit like a big bunch of MOT Maps, ideal for spotting all those niggling early route numbers otherwise consigned to history...

...ah no, it's just a draft for the map's front cover. What a disappointment.
