Context
A single folder full of plans and maps that accompany MT 95/523.
Much of this file is actually general planning work for the length as far east as Chippenham, including route selection and refinement. There is still some emphasis on Almondsbury.
Sadly there are no diagrams of Almondsbury as a cloverleaf or a stacked roundabout, and very little in the way of engineering plans of the stack as built. The clearest plans are actually signage diagrams.
Contents of note
- Numerous plans showing the A38 junction at Filton as having south-facing sliproads only (which fits in with the M5 south of there being labelled 'Filton Bypass Substitute'). The D/C setup probably came later with revised traffic figures, which these diagrams all note that they are awaiting.
- Signage plans showing initial proposals for junction signage and then revised plans which are much simplified.
- One signage plan shows north-facing sliproads at the A38 in conjunction with an incomplete Almondsbury, and is annotated to show that once the M5 northwards is open, the north-facing sliproads should be closed.
